The company

The company operates in the south-west of Peloponnese in Greece, and specifically in the region of Trifilia which is very well known for the quality of its agricultural products. It is located in Kyparissia, the beautiful capital of Trifilia prefecture in Messinia, distributing its products throughout Greece and abroad. Company's philosophy is the production and packaging of high quality products from the region of Messinia (Kalamata). The company operates under ISO and HACCP quality control system. Furthermore, it was the first company in Greece selling products under certified name of origin from the European Union (PDO - Protected Destination of Origin).

Both the production and packaging activities take place in the area of "Rontaki" - close to Kyparissia city - in their privately-owned land of 9,000 sq.m. There they package : Kalamata Olives (PDO), Green and Black Olives in plastic tubs of 13 & 3.5 kilos, 700 -500 -200 -100 gr and in glass jars of 220 gr. Arkadia produces and packages : Kalamata Minced Olives (Pate) (PDO)and green minced olives (pate). Sun Dried Tomato Pesto (Pate) in glass jars of 300 & 190 gr. Garlic (natural), Garlic in oil with Oregano in glass jars of 120 gr. Artichoke (salad ready to eat) in glass jars of 120 gr. The Arkadia company also produces : Sun Dried Tomato raw or flavoured in extra virgin olive oil with garlic and herbs in jars of 330 gr and Sun Dried Tomato in transparent plastic bags of 200 gr.

In addition, the company has enriched its product range of high quality products such as extra virgin olive oil of Messinia region (PDO Kalamata), in tins of 5lt, plastic bottles of 1lt and glass bottles of 750 & 500 ml, as well as, exceptional wine (white, rose and red wine).

Information about sun-dried tomatoes

Sun-dried tomatoes are ripe tomatoes which are placed in the sun to remove most of the water content from the tomatoes. Cherry types of tomatoes will lose 88% of their initial (fresh) weight, whilst larger tomatoes can lose up to 93% during the process.

As a result, it takes anywhere from 8 to 14 kilos of fresh tomatoes to make a single kilo of sun dried tomatoes. After the procedure the tomato fruits will keep their nutritional value. The tomatoes are high in lycopene, antioxidants, vitamin C and low in sodium, fat, and calories.
